“After Ramadan, the most virtuous fasting is that of the month of Muharram”
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The best fasts after the month of Ramadan are in Allah’s month Al-Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer (Tahajjud).”
(Sahih Muslim, Book of Fasting, Chapter: The Virtue of Fasting in Muharram)
This narration highlights the special status of the month of Muharram, as the Prophet ﷺ referred to it as “Shahrullah” (the Month of Allah) — a title that reflects its sanctity and excellence.
